Inky Paws Challenge 72: Newton’s Graduation

Hi there, friends!  Today I’m sharing a card inspired by Inky Paws Challenge 72: Use Buttons.  Luckily for me, I have a pretty good button collection (most of which I inherited).  The only trouble is choosing which buttons to use: I bet I took as long to choose the buttons as I did in creating the rest of the card!

I stamped that cute kitty from Newton’s Nook Designs’ Newton’s Graduation with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored him with Copics.  After cutting him out, I added some details with a white gel pen and some sparkle with both a glitter pen and Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Overlay.  I used an old embossing folder to create the background, which I matted with black cardstock before adhering to a white card.

The sentiment is from NND’s Simply Sentimental set.  I masked part of it, stamped it with Veramark, and gold heat-embossed it onto a strip of red cardstock.  I adhered the sentiment strip to my card and popped up that cute kitty with foam tape.  A scattering of buttons completes the card.

Thanks for stopping by!  Remember, if you’d like a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Newton’s Nook Designs, be sure to link up a project following the challenge theme by Friday, May 25th, at midnight CST.

This is adorable! What a perfect background to go with the graduation kitty! The added buttons give the perfect finishing touch!

Your project does not have to be a graduation card. It merely needs to include at least one NND image and some buttons. Good luck!
