For my last hop project, I used the oh-so-adorable Just Because stamp from Polkadoodles, the Woodland Foliage Frames Die Set, the Petite Pinafore Build-A-Card Dies, the Happy Days Circles Dies, and the Country Friends Sweet Pea Paper Pack.
After stamping those adorable friends from Just Because with Raven Hybrid Ink, I colored them with colored pencils. I confess that I’m not very patient, so I like to blend my coloring with Gamsol and a paper stump.
I created a frame for my colored image by layering the two largest dies from the Woodland Foliage Frames Die Set. I like to use washi tape to hold my dies in place before running them through my die-cutting machine.
Onto my colored panel, I roughly traced the scalloped die from the Woodland Foliage Frames Die Set with a pencil and cut it out with my scissors. The reason I did not die-cut the image is because I wanted to be able to adhere the frame on top of it.
I used the bow die from the Happy Circles Die Set to create a lavender bow for my frame. I found the best way to shape the bow in order to maintain some dimension is to wrap the widest part of each loop around a thin paintbrush. I adhered the tabs with liquid glue to hold the loops in place.
To embellish my card, I die-cut some foliage with the Woodland Foliage Frames Die Set and some flowers with the Petite Pinafore Build-A-Card Dies. I shaped the flower petals by bending them up and then layered them together.
I trimmed some plaid paper from the Country Friends Sweet Pea Paper Pack into a 5 3/4″ square and adhered it to a white 6″ card. After adhering my colored image to the back of my die-cut frame, I attached it to my card with foam tape.
I embellished the frame with the bow created earlier, adding to its center a tiny flower die-cut with the Petite Pinafore Build-A-Card Dies. Although I had die-cut two pieces of foliage, I ended up using only one and trimmed it into smaller pieces with scissors, tucking the sections under my flowers. I used some matte enamel dots for the flowers’ centers. To those adorable critters, I added a few details with a white gel pen and brushed on some sparkle.
Thanks for stopping by! Hop along, and leave a comment on each hop stop for a chance to win $25!
