Hi there! Isn’t this image so sweet?! It’s a digital stamp from Kinda Cute by Patricia called Decorating the Tree, and I just love it because it reminds me of my son. He’s thirteen now and hasn’t worn footed pajamas in YEARS, but he still has stuffed animals all over his bed!
I recently picked up some Molotow Masking Fluid and wanted to use it to create an ink-blended background. After printing the stamp on Xpress It Blending paper, I covered the images with the masking fluid. I let that dry a bit before masking off the floor with post-it tape and blending with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide. I then masked the wall and used Iced Spruce Distress Oxide for the floor.
The masking fluid was fairly easy to remove with my finger, but it did make my paper a little rough (not enough to ruin my coloring, thankfully). Also, where I didn’t have a nice, thick layer of the fluid, some of the ink bled through, which is why the little boy’s face is a bit mottled. Live and learn, I say!
Once I had removed all of the masking fluid, I colored everything with Copics. I used a white gel pen to draw back in the lines on the pajamas and also added some highlights with it. To give the ornaments some sparkle, I brushed on some clear Wink of Stella. The sentiment is from Newton’s Nook Designs’ Snow Globe Scenes and was heat-embossed in gold. The patterned paper is from MFT Stamps’ Fresh Squeezed Chevron pack. I matted the colored panel with red cardstock and foam-mounted it to the patterned paper, which I adhered to a top-folding white card.
Thanks for stopping by!
