Inky Paws Challenge 57: Falling Leaves

Hello!  Today is the start of a brand new Inky Paws Challenge, and the theme is fall.  I just love the gorgeous colors of the leaves in the inspiration photo and decided to focus on them for my card.

I started by die-cutting a bunch of leaves with the Autumn Leaves Die set from Newton’s Nook.  I first cut the leaves out of watercolor cardstock and then inked them up with various colors of distress ink.  Next, I die-cut the leaves out of brown cardstock, arranging the dies in the position I wanted the leaves to “fall”.  Once I had die-cut all of the leaves, I embossed the negative piece with a wood-grain embossing folder.

I heat-embossed a sentiment from Lovely Blooms onto a strip of vellum, which I wrapped around the embossed panel.  After adhering the panel to an ivory card, I glued down the leaves, curling up their edges, and the veins in the negative spaces.  I added some Nuvo Drops in coordinating colors for a little more interest and dimension.  I felt the card still needed something, however, so I die-cut two acorns with the Autumn Leaves dies.  Once I had inked them up with distress inks and assembled them, I adhered them to the vellum strip.

Thank you for stopping by!  This challenge will run through Friday, October 20th.  Be sure to link up a project by midnight CST to have a chance at winning a $20 gift certificate to Newton’s Nook Designs!

This is so gorgeous! I love the way the leaves pop out of the background with the die cut! The gold embossed sentiment is beautiful too! So perfect for Fall! Thank you for the Inky Paws challenge inspiration!
