Inky Paws Challenge 55: Galaxy Background

Hello and welcome to a new Inky Paws Challenge!  This one is a sketch challenge, and, surprisingly, I stayed pretty true to it.

That adorable space kitty is from Cosmic Newton.  I stamped him with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored him with Copics.  I added some highlights with a white gel pen before coating the helmet with Glossy Accents.  I just love the dimension and shine it adds!

The galaxy background was created by blending some watercolor paper with Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot distress inks.  I flicked on some water, watered-down white paint, and shimmer spritz to create lots of stars.  While that was drying, I embossed some blue cardstock with the Starfield Stencil from Newton’s Nook Designs.

After trimming down the embossed cardstock, I adhered it to a gray card.  I heat-embossed a sentiment from Cosmic Newton and rounded the corners of the ink-blended panel before adding it to my card.  Newton was popped up with foam tape.  To fill in some space (ha ha!  didn’t intend that pun!), I stamped two planets and colored them with Copics.  To finish the card, I added some clear Wink of Stella and some Stickles (There’s no such thing as too many stars, right?!).

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to link up a project by Friday, September 22nd, at midnight CST for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Newton’s Nook Designs!
