Howdy! I’m back with a slider card featuring Krash the Horse from Your Next Stamp. I just love the expression on this horse – boy, is he having a fun time running through the field or what?! From the start I knew I wanted to use him on a slider card, and after seeing a hidden slider card created by the fabulous Laura Bassen (watch her tutorial here), I had to try it myself.
First, I stamped Krash with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored him with Copics, and die-cut him with the coordinating die. Then I went to work on the background and slider element. Onto Bristol Smooth paper, I ink-blended Salty Ocean distress ink for the sky and Mowed Lawn for the grass. I also ink-blended a separate piece with Mowed Lawn for my die-cut grass border. I flicked on and blotted off some water to add interest.
Using a hole punch, Xacto knife, and cutting mat, I created an opening in my background for my slider element. Onto a strip of white cardstock, I stamped a sentiment from Cool Tag Banner and rounded one end with a circle punch. I placed that strip behind the opening on my background panel. I added two pieces of clear acetate to the horse and adhered the ends of those to my slider discs, which I adhered to the stamped strip. I popped up the die-cut border on top with two layers of foam tape, making sure that the sticky sides of the foam tape did not touch any portion of my slider. Using my MISTI, I stamped and heat-embossed a sentiment from Krash the Horse and then mounted the whole thing with craft foam onto a kraft cardbase.
I carefully stamped one of the clouds from Hoot’s Up behind the horse to look like he’s kicking up dust and also added some Zig Wink of Stella to parts of the image.
