Hooray! It’s Release Day for Craftin Desert Divas’ May Release! All of the adorable stamps and fabulous dies we’ve been showing you all week will be available in the shop later today. The set we are featuring today just may be my favorite from this release. If you liked Treasure Trolls, you will LOVE Weather Gnomes!
For my first card, I wanted to make a slider card with this cute gnome riding a unicorn, and, of course, he/she should be riding across a rainbow, right? After coloring my image with Copics and cutting it out, I went to work on my background. The rainbow was die-cut from Bristol Smooth paper with the Rainbow Die released last month. I ink-blended the following colors of distress ink onto the stripes: Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Evergreen Bough, and Seedless Preserves. For the sky, I ink-blended Tumbled Glass onto a separate piece of Bristol paper. I flicked water onto the stripes and sky and blotted it with a towel.
To create the slider element, I placed my rainbow and gnome onto my background, marked with a pencil where I wanted the slider to be, and cut it out with an Xacto knife. I adhered the plastic slider disc to my gnome, placed it in the opening I had created, and adhered a white circle behind it. I covered the back of my panel with two layers of foam tape before adhering it to a white card. I glued my rainbow underneath, trimming off the excess. The sentiment, from Weather Gnomes, was heat-embossed onto a vellum banner die-cut with the Flag Banner Dies. I added some Zig Wink of Stella to the stamped image for some sparkle.
How do you like that purple hair? Quite adventurous for me, I tell ya! Again, I colored this sweet image with Copics and cut her out. I love this paper from Doodlebug Designs’ Spring Things paper pad and knew I wanted to use it as my background. I die-cut the cloud paper with the largest Fancy Frames Die. After adhering the polka dot paper to my card, I popped up the cloud paper on top with foam tape.
I die-cut the pink banner with the Flag Banner and Fancy Frame Dies and heat-embossed the sentiment in white. I adhered the strip to my card and popped up the little gnome with foam tape. For a little sparkle, I added some Shimmer Sequins, some Zig Wink of Stella, and a tiny drop of Nuvo Glitter Drops.
Thanks for sharing your day with me, and I hope the rest of yours is fabulous. Don’t forget to check out Craftin Desert Divas’ Facebook event, where one lucky commenter on today’s post could WIN this set.
