Day 1 of Craftin Desert Divas’ May Release

Hello there.  I’m so excited about Craftin Desert Divas’ May Release!  They have done another amazing job of creating some adorable stamps and fabulous dies!  Today, the DT is featuring the new Garden Bugs stamps and Garden Border Dies.

For my first card, I stamped and colored some of the cute images from Garden Bugs.  For the background I ink-blended Mowed Lawn and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks onto Bristol Smooth paper.  I flicked some water onto the grass and blotted it with a towel before die-cutting the panel with the largest Fancy Frame Die.

I trimmed down some Doodlebug Designs’ Easter Express paper, adhered it to a white card, and added my ink-blended panel on top.  I arranged my images onto my card, popping up the ladybug with foam tape.  The sentiment was heat-embossed onto a banner die-cut with the Flag Banner Dies.  I also die-cut one end with the Fancy Frame die before adhering it to my card.  I added some highlights with a white gel pen, some Zig Wink of Stella to the bee’s wings, and some clear Nuvo drops for water.

My second card uses some of the smaller images from Garden Bugs, as well as the new Garden Border Dies.  The background and die-cut elements were cut from Bristol Smooth paper and ink-blended with distress inks.  Again, I flicked on some water and blotted it with a towel.

The wonderful thing about the border die is that it cuts little slits that allow you to tuck in vegetables or flowers.  I tucked my die-cut elements into the slits and backed the panel with ScorTape.  I adhered the border to my background and then added liquid glue to the backs of the elements before pressing them onto the background.  I trimmed the panel and adhered it to my card.  I added my stamped images, popping up the ladybugs and snail with foam tape.  Using my MISTI, I stamped and heat-embossed a sentiment from Garden Bugs.  For some sparkle and shine, I used Zig Wink of Stella on the butterfly and bees and a black glaze pen on the ladybugs.
