Hello, again! I’m back with a coffee-themed card (while enjoying a nice, BIG cuppa, no less! 🙂 ). The design was inspired by a sketch from the Coffee Loving Cardmakers’ Sunday Sip and Share (see below).
The coffee image is from SugarPea Designs’ Caffeine Addict. With distress inks I stamped and painted the coffee, lid and whipped cream on watercolor paper. I masked off the coffee image before stamping the straw. To stamp the straw and embellishment on the cup, I inked my stamp with distress ink and then spritzed it with a little bit of water before stamping. Because I wanted the lid to have a frosted appearance, I adhered some vellum over the lid and fussy-cut the whole thing.
The background was fun and easy to create! I “smooshed” various colors of distress ink onto watercolor paper, making sure to dry each color before adding the next. Once the paper was dry, I die-cut it with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles die, matted it with brown cardstock, and adhered it to my top-folding card. The sentiment is from Pink & Main’s Hello Sweet set. I heat-embossed it in white onto a strip of brown cardstock and bannered one end. I punched a hole in the opposite end and threaded it onto some bakers’ twine, which I tied around my card. I added some adhesive underneath the sentiment strip so that it wouldn’t flop around (I also like how it directs your attention to the coffee.). I popped up my coffee with foam tape and adhered some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and Doodlebug Designs.
Thanks for spending some time with me. I hope you have a wonderful day!
I’m entering this card into the following challenges: SugarPea Designs’ Mix It Up Challenge 27: Anything Goes, Coffee Loving Cardmakers’ Sunday Sip and Share, and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Chill Out,
