Happy Purrr-thday!

Hi, friends!  ‘Sorry it’s been awhile since I posted, but I think you’ll find today’s card worth the wait (or so I hope)!

Nothing says birthday like crepe paper and confetti, right?!

The design for this card was inspired by Your Next Stamp’s Sketch Challenge 47.  Instead of layering two strips of paper like the sketch, I created fringe from some leftover crepe paper streamers.  I folded a strip of crepe paper streamer in half and cut in partway with my herb shears to make the fringe (You could also use regular scissors; it’ll just take a bit longer).  Super easy, and it adds such a party feel!

The cute images are from YNS’s Party Animals set.  I stamped the two gifts onto white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copics.  I did the same for the cat on another piece of white cardstock, but also die-cut him with the coordinating dies.  I masked off the gifts and ink-blended the panel with Spun Sugar and Scattered Straw Distress Inks.  I flicked a little water on the panel and quickly dried it with a paper towel.  I popped up the kitty with foam tape and adhered him to my panel.

To allow more room for the fringe, I backed my stamped panel with white foam and added the pink fringe to the back before adhering the panel to my card.  I carefully lifted the pink fringe, added a strip of tape runner, and placed the yellow fringe on top.  I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and heat-embossed it in white.  I bannered one end of the sentiment strip and popped it up with foam tape onto my card.  To finish the card, I added some white gel pen to the kitty’s eyes and nose and to the balloon, some Zig Wink of Stella to the bows and pom pom on the hat, and some clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

That’s it for me today.  Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a purrr-fect day!

I’m also entering this card into Lawnscaping Challenge 137:  Texture-fied! and The Cat’s Pajamas Tuesday Challenge 322:  Embossing.
