7th Annual Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Blog Hop

Happy Friday, friends!  Today the Newton’s Nook Designs design team is teaming up with some fabulous guests for the 7th Annual Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Blog Hop.  We have loads of Christmas inspiration for you, and there are two PRIZES up for grabs and an awesome SALE during the hop period!  Be sure to read all the way to the end of this post for details on both.

Pine-Bough Frames Christmas Card by Andrea Shell | Christmas Trimmings stamp by Newton's Nook Designs

I am quite tickled with how this card turned out (even my son was impressed – no easy feat I tell you)!  I started with my background to allow plenty of time for it to dry.  Onto a piece of red cardstock, I blended distress inks in darker shades to create a halo or ombre look (The effect was much more noticeable before I added all of those pine boughs).  After placing the Ornaments Stencil over my background, I spread White Glitz Gitter Gel from Therm O Web.  The sparkle is just gorgeous!

While my background was drying, I stamped that fun image from Christmas Trimmings.  I colored it with Copics and cut it out with the coordinating dies.  I also die-cut a bunch of pine boughs from two shades of green cardstock with the Pines & Holly Dies.  From one of those green cardstocks, I die-cut a mat with the Framework Dies and then set to work assembling my card.

I trimmed the stenciled piece to the inner dimensions of my mat and layered the pine boughs around the edges.  With my scissors I trimmed off the parts of the die-cuts that extended beyond the edge of my background.  I adhered my background to the mat, which I attached to a white card.  After affixing my colored image with foam tape, I added Clear Sparkle Overlay and Glossy Accents to the image.  Finally, I stamped a sentiment from Christmas Trimmings inside the card with black ink.
